"Reading Is a Voyage" is the theme of this weekend conference for teachers and librarians, presents speakers with an emphasis on encouraging students to read for both pleasure and information. Sponsored primarily by the Nevada Department of Education, its original purpose was to provide teachers and librarians from both school and public libraries with ideas to celebrate Nevada Reading Week, a statewide celebration of reading, and to suggest theme-related activities. Over more than thirty years, the conference program has come to include keynote and breakout presentations by noted children's authors, illustrators, reviewers, and children's literature experts. Workshops include topics related to technology, science, history, music, art, and math, all with connections to reading and books.
